Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Shares A Bit On Chocobo Raising

Recommended Videos

With Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s patch 2.3 update around the corner, players have a lot to look forward to, like the massive 72-man PvP called Frontline. Another feature worth noting is the new Chocobo raising feature. Square Enix gives us a little preview.

In order to start raising a Chocobo, you’ll first need to get a Chocobo Stable, which can be purchased from the housing merchant NPC in any residential area. The stable can then be used by all Free Company members.

Once you get a stable, the Chocobos can then be trained and earn EXP, once per hour, and will require one of the following fruits or vegetables as a little treat: Krakka Root, Curiel Root, Sylkis Bud, Mimett Gourd, Tantalplant, Pahsana Fruit, Thavnairian Onion.

The Chocobo Companions cannot exceed over rank 20, but after giving them enough of a certain food, it becomes their favorite feed. Afterwards, you can then use their favorite foods to summon them in battle with some extra effects.

Their favorite foods can also be changed by giving them more of another food, instead.

However, one thing you and your Free Company mates might want to keep an eye on is the Stable Cleanliness, as you wouldn’t want your Chocobo to be raised in a pile of filth. In order to clean up the Stable, you’ll need to have a Magicked Stable Broom in your inventory.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s Patch 2.3 launches on July 8, 2014. Meanwhile, you can check out Square Enix’s trailer for the patch.
