The first side story released is titled “As Azura Fades.” It stars Estinien Varlineau, Haldrath, Aureniquart, and Berteline. In it, Estinien experiences a vision in a dream from the perspective of Haldrath, one of Ishgard’s founding fathers. Meanwhile, Aureniquart and Berteline keep to the oath they swore to Haldrath.

Three more Final Fantasy XIV side stories are scheduled to be released in September. The release dates for them are as follows:

  • Side Story 2: September 1, 2023
  • Side Story 3: September 8, 2023
  • Side Story 4: September 15, 2023

So far, many other celebratory events and collaborations have been announced to commemorate the game’s 10th anniversary. In-game, a special event in which players can submit screenshots of their characters in fashionable outfits has been running in collaboration with Vogue Japan. Japanese chip brand Koikeya recently released themed Final Fantasy XIV potato chips as well, which sold out in one day. Also, a 10th anniversary memorial book documenting the history of the game since its release has also been revealed to drop this winter.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. It will also come to Xbox Series X in Spring 2024.
