There seems to be a limitless number of errors possible in an online game, especially an MMORPG. So what do you do if you come across the “world data cannot be obtained” error in Final Fantasy XIV.
There’s only a handful of issues that would leave you unable to login. However, one such issue in Final Fantasy XIV is the “World data cannot be obtained” error. This kicks players back to the character screen, preventing the login.
This error generally occurs when a world is full. This means too many players are trying to access it at once. Usually this is just an issue of the World being busy. However, in some cases the error could be more serious. Sometimes the World could be experiencing technical difficulties. Or, in rare situations, intentionally being targeted in DDoS attacks.
How to deal with the “World data cannot be obtained” error in Final Fantasy XIV
If you’re hit with this error, you have a few options:
- Wait for the server to empty: Simply waiting for some players to log off can allow you to access the world. Most of the time this is going to be the best solution to the error.
- Visit another world: FFXIV offers the ability to visit different worlds within your data center, so you can still play even if your main world is full.
- Restart your game: A quick restart can sometimes resolve connection issues or minor glitches that may be causing the error.
Either way, the error is typically short-lived. You should be able to get back to your adventure in Eorzea soon. This means the error should actually sit pretty low on your list of worries.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is available now on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
