Capcom announced that the PC versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, and Breath of Fire IV are now all available to buy via Steam, however all four games do feature DRM and require EULA consent. Previously, these games first appeared DRM-free on GOG. The Breath of Fire entry in particular was a GOG Dreamlist title.

Each of the three Resident Evil games and Breath of Fire IV use The Enigma Protector DRM for the Steam versions. All of the titles are the ones released as part of the GOG Preservation Program. As such, GOG is listed as a developer alongside Capcom on the Steam product pages. As such, the standard pricing is the same on both platforms.

However, there is a launch sale in effect for these new storefront releases of Resident Evil and Breath of Fire IV that isn’t mirrored on GOG. All of the games are temporarily 50% off. So instead of being $9.99, they are all $4.99 each. That sale ends on April 15, 2026.

The GOG Preservation versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Breath of Fire IV are all now available on PCs via both GOG and Steam, though on Steam Enigma DRM is present.
