The creators of Summon Night series aren’t giving up on the PlayStation 2. On February 19, 2009 Flight Plan will self publish Sacred Blaze, an internally developed strategy RPG with a unique system of characters asking God for abilities. In a forth wall breaking twist the player is God in Sacred Blaze which means you get to pick their abilities. The combat system vaguely reminds me of Eternal Poison, another Flight Plan developed game, with its master/servant system.
The last self published Flight Plan game was Dragon Shadow Spell and we never got that. Since Sacred Blaze is coming out so late in the PlayStation 2’s life cycle it might not get localized either. You know who localizes Flight Plan games in North America? Atlus. They might be publishing PlayStation 2 games next year too since Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon is still lingering in Japan. If you’re interested go bother them about Sacred Blaze.
