Potential Foamstars players will have the chance to get their hands on the game well ahead of its launch in the very near future. During the PlayStation State of Play on September 14, 2023, Square Enix announced an open beta scheduled for this month. The Foamstars open beta kicks off Friday, September 29, 2023.
This open beta will run for a few days until it concludes on Sunday, October 1, 2023. The 4v4 party shooter’s network test will be available on both PS4 and PS5, letting players check out two game modes and eight playable characters.
The first of the game modes is Smash the Star, which sees one of the players on a team become the Star Player after seven teammates get eliminated. The game ends when the first team eliminates the opposing team’s Star Player and wins the match.
The other game mode available is Happy Bath Survival. This is a 2v2 mode where two players are in an arena, with the other two on the outside. The goal is to use foam to blast and knock out the opposing player in the arena first to win the round. The first team to win two of the three rounds takes the match.
Players have the chance to check out the stylish competitive multiplayer game, with similarities to the Splatoon series, during the open beta ahead of its full release next year.
Foamstars is coming to PS4 and PS5 in 2024. The Foamstars open beta is September 29, 2023 through October 1, 2023.
