Whoa! From the Abyss is quite an interesting development. First let’s look at the developer, Sonic Powered. They probably aren’t on your radar unless you are keen on PDA puzzle games. Sonic Powered made a few console games, but that is far from their forte.
That brings me to their latest project, From the Abyss, a Nintendo DS action RPG that lets you absorb enemy skills through the Soul Capture system. The other thing neat about From the Abyss is you make your character by answering personal questions. Your skills change depending on you responses so you get a semi-personalized character to play with. OK, this sounds interesting, but the December 2007 release window is a bad time. Tons of other games are coming around then to capitalize on the holiday season and I imagine this is going to slip through cracks fast. Siliconera faithful should we follow From the Abyss?
