Frontier Gate May Look Like Monster Hunter, But It Won’t Play Like It

We’ve seen a fair share of PSP hunting games in Japan. These titles tend to stick to the same formula, but change the setting with anime licenses like Fairy Tail or turning your body into the game world.

Stylistically speaking, Frontier Gate from Star Ocean developer tri-Ace is the most similar to Capcom’s Monster Hunter series. However, the gameplay in Konami’s title is entirely different since Frontier Gate uses a turn based battle system. This teaser trailer from Konami shows a tiny bit of menu flipping before battles begin.

 

 

Frontier Gate comes out on PSP this year in Japan.
