I don’t know how I missed this, but Namco Bandai is working on a Gegege no Kitaro game for the Nintendo Wii. In case you haven’t heard of it Gegege no Kitaro is an old school manga series. It came out around the same time as Astro Boy and was eventually brought to TV. The series is about a Kitaro, a ghostly boy, his father who is a living eyeball and a girl who has a crush on Kitaro. The group of wacky characters seems to fit the party game genre, which is what Namco Bandai chose when they decided to make Gegege no Kitaro: Yoaki Dai Undokai. The hook is the mini-games are light macabre twists on kid sports. Graveyard races and stone soccer where you shake the remote are family fun. Of course this isn't coming to the USA, but we have enough party games already.
