One topic raised by people since Genshin Impact’s launch involves security. People have asked for a means to better secure accounts. Now, there is an additional option. miHoYo announced Genshin Impact 2 factor authentication, aka 2FA account verification, will be added on May 17, 2021.
The announcement explained how it will be handled in-game. People can provide their email address and phone number for their account. When Genshin Impact 2FA is used, an email or text will go out to provide a code. You will need to supply that in order to continue the login process. Login Devices will also appear under Account Management settings.
As a reminder, miHoYo announced it was working on 2FA back in April 2021. At the time, it was being developed and tested. The company also noted it would appear worldwide once it was ready.
Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch. The Genshin Impact 2FA will be used with the PC and mobile versions of the game. In addition, its Eula Born of Ocean Swell banner will begin on May 18, 2021 and add the new five-star Cryo character.
