Gensou Skydrift Will Turn Touhou Heroines Into Racers On The Nintendo Switch and PC In December 2019

Recommended Videos

Gensou Skydrift, the Touhou Project racing game, has a release date on two platforms. People with a Nintendo Switch or PC will be able to race around on December 12, 2019, with the racer being playable in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Then, shortly after in the first quarter of 2020, it will find its way to the PlayStation 4.

While the Gensokyo heroines have no problem flying around, steering, and using magic on their own in the normal Touhou Project games, Gensou Skydrift functions a bit differently. Namely, instead of driving cars, the characters ride around on each other. When you head into a race on one of the 15 tracks, you pick two characters out of the 20 possible contestants. You then swap between them as you drive. When one is flying, the other is standing on her back and using their special abilities, and vice versa. In addition to the campaign, there are Time Attack and Versus Mode. You can even have eight people racing online.

Here is the Gensou Skydrift trailer, which shows how the people of Gensokyo can switch between being a driver or a vehicle.

Gensou Skydrift will come to the Nintendo Switch and PC on December 12, 2019. While its full price will be $23.99 USD/€ 21.99, there will be a 20% launch discount. The PlayStation 4 version will follow in the first quarter of 2020.
