Get ready to sink your claws into new Mario and Peach collectibles. As part of the whole Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct on September 3, 2020, the company announced a Nintendo Switch port of Super Mario 3D World with extra content. But also, to go along with that, it revealed two accessories to go with the game. Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo are on the way.
Here’s the official tweet from Nintendo of America showing off the two characters. They have red bases like the other Super Mario series amiibo, like the wedding figures released alongside Super Mario Odyssey or the ones released for games like Mario Party 10 on the Nintendo Wii U.

Nintendo didn’t mention what these two new amiibo might unlock in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. However, the initial trailer did seem to suggest there will be a whole new, cat-themed world and showed Cat Mario sitting in front of what might have been some sort of shrine.
The Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo will launch on February 12, 2021, the same day Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will come to the Nintendo Switch worldwide.
