One of the Etrian Odyssey series’ hallmarks is creating your own maps. People are given all the tools necessary to draw maps on the lower Nintendo 3DS touchscreen as the explore dungeons, and Etrian Odyssey Nexus is no exception. To help people better appreciate how it works in the latest installment, Atlus has released a trailer explaining how it works.

The video begins by showing how to draw maps. Then, it shows how you can plot courses. After that, it looks at placing things like doors and icons. After that, it points out how you can mark gathering points. It should all look very familiar, if you have played an installment before, but can be very helpful if Etrian Odyssey Nexus will be your first Etrian Odyssey game.

Here is the Etrian Odyssey Nexus mapping trailer.

Etrian Odyssey Nexus will come to the Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe on February 5, 2019. It is immediately available in Japan as Etrian Odyssey X.
