Microsoft’s Kodu project sounds like the 3D Movie Maker equivalent for game development. With Kodu anyone can make a game. No equations are required and you don’t even need a keyboard. All of the programming is done by selecting menu choices to make statements with an Xbox 360 controller.

Kodu is scheduled to come out this spring on the Xbox 360’s Community Games channel. The visual programming environment has a built in terrain editor, bridge/path builder, and 20 different characters with different abilities to play with. Since visual programming has its limits you may not be able to make an epic 50 hour RPG with Kodu, but you can probably make a neat arcade game with it. I think I’ll try to make Every Extend Extra: The 2D sidescroller with it. What kind of game will you make?
