Old Moon Games has released a new “Reborn” trailer for its upcoming 2D sci-fi action platformer Ghost Song.

It doesn’t showcase too many new elements of the games – those that haven’t been seen before, that is – but it does describe the game’s tone well. Pay attention to the dark, swelling synth stabs and eerie electronic blips. It has the vibe of a neo-80s B-movie.

What’s also worth taking a mental note of is the variety of creature encounters in the game that this new trailer shows. There are muscular, gorilla-like purple aliens, phantom spacemen, lean blue guys that shuffle towards you, and wall-hugging slugs. You’ll also see a number of carcasses of various explorers, another one alive and weeping into their hands, which builds the world and contributes to its sad tale.

And, if you didn’t know what the game is about, well, you explore the mysterious and treacherous moon Lorian V in order to find closure for the main character. It’s said to be an emotionally testing and physically straining journey for them.
