Battle Chronicle will appear as a mobile RPG. Sega noted in the press release that the game will let players re-experience famous scenes from the Gintama show.

Based on the screenshots Sega has shared, players will be able to obtain characters like Gintoki and Shinpachi via gacha banners and use the provided stamina to access story and battle stages while providing equipment to the recruited characters.

Sega is also holding a pre-registration campaign for Battle Chronicle. If it surpasses 300,000 registrants, the company will gift an SSR Gintoki character and crystals worth 60 gacha pulls in total to all players at launch.

Other companies have also been releasing merchandise based on the Gintama franchise. In March 2025, Zoff unveiled glasses inspired by Gintama characters, while Sanrio revealed crossover merchandise that paired its mascots like Hello Kitty with Gintoki and other characters.

Gintama Smartphone Battle Chronicle will be available for iOS and Android devices in Japan. Sega has yet to inform the new mobile game’s actual launch date as of the initial reveal.
