Granzella CEO Takeshi Nagura has published an official press release where he confirmed that the company could not pay its employees due to poor business performance between 2023 and 2025. The CEO also promises to resolve the issue and complete the due payments by the spring season of 2026.

Nagura added that Granzella lacked the necessary capital needed to pay employees due to poor performance from May 2023 until May 2025. Following consultations with the employees, the company deferred their salaries for May, June, and August 2023. It claimed that it managed to complete payments to employees who still remained in the company in May 2025.

Some of the employees had since left Granzella to establish their own companies due to this issue. The outstanding salaries owed to them have yet to be completely resolved, and Nagura promises to finish it by the spring season.

The publication of this press release followed a major news report on the preceding day. The Kanazawa Labor Standards Inspection Office filed charges against Granzella, Gyakuten Games, and [R]studio to the local public prosecutor’s office after receiving claims that 46 employees did not receive nine months’ worth of salaries between 2023 and 2024, totaling over 18 million yen (or over $115,000 with the exchange rate in early January 2026).

Previously, in October 2022, Granzella announced two new releases for the R-Type series. It managed to release the enhanced shooting game R-Type Final 3 Evolved for PlayStation 5 in March 2023 as scheduled. However, R-Type Tactics I-II Cosmos had a lengthy delay from its original release window of Summer 2023. The latter turn-based strategy game is instead slated for release for the PS5, PS4, Switch 2, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 12, 2026.
