The GTA VI ESRB rating appeared on the PlayStation Store listing for the game and, as with Grand Theft Auto games, the new one will be getting a Mature and 17+ recommendation. The page also offered a few descriptors noting what to expect. It confirmed that “in-game purchases,” be it actual DLC or microtransactions, will be present in the title. This notice hasn’t appeared on some other product pages as of time of writing.[Thanks, Resetera!]
All of the ESRB content descriptors associated with the GTA VI rating tend to match past ones. They are “blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol.” As the official site hasn’t updated yet, we don’t have the rating summary that offers any specific examples of situations involving those topics in-game.
If you check the official ESRB site, you’ll find that Mature ratings for new and old Grand Theft Auto games is nothing new and the GTA VI warnings match past ones. For example, GTA V had “blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol” as its content descriptors too. That also featured the “in-game purchases” notification. However, as a result of that featuring GTA Online, it also had “Users Interact” assigned to it.
Grand Theft Auto VI will come to the PS5 and Xbox Series X on November 19, 2026 and pre-orders are open.
