Halloween celebrations have been getting bigger and bigger in Japan over the past few years, and Arc System Works joined in on the festivities with a Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator Halloween party tournament. Famitsugives us a look at the event from this weekend.
The event was held at the Sega Ikebukuro Gigo Arcades on Halloween night, where many fighting game players and Guilty Gear fans gathered to attend the festivities.
Arc System Works sponsored the event and sold a variety of T-shirts and other exclusive goods. Daisuke Ishiwatari was also there for autographs.
The entire event was available for live-viewing on NicoNico Douga.
The event kicked off with the Ladies Tournament, which was won by an impressive Axel player who goes by “Nee” and was crowned as the “2015 Queen of Halloween.”
Following, was the Cosplayer Tournament, which saw a variety of Halloween costume cosplays from the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series. The winner was Sol player OPS|Captain NOB who wore a Jack-O mask, who was given the title “2015 Costume General” for his victory.
And lastly, the main tournament featured 60 players that gathered from around Japan. The tournament was won by a Fino the Venom player, who got the title “2015 King of Halloween” for the feat.
Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is currently available on arcade, and will release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan in spring 2016.
