If you’ve been waiting to play another game from Sting, creators of Yggdra Union and Knights in the Nightmare, log on to PlayStation Network with a Japanese account. There’s a free demo of Gungnir, Sting’s next PSP game for you to download.
Gungnir follows Julio, a soldier in the Esparenza who wields a spear carrying a war god. Armed with the Gungnir he and his brother, the leader of the Esparenza, seek to overthrow the Gargantia Empire. The story begins after Julio rescues Alyssa, a girl about to be sold into slavery.
Sting tends to create games with a steep learning curve, but Gungnir was designed as a standard tactical RPG that anyone can pick up and play. I suppose that means the 69 MB demo shouldn’t be too hard to figure out. Save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game, which comes out on May 19 in Japan.
