New details have emerged for .Hack//G.U. Last Recode, the PlayStation 4 remaster of the PlayStation 2 original games that also adds a new chapter to the game. This update shows off Avatar Battles, shooter-like battles which were also present in the original games. [Thanks, 4Gamer]
In Avatar Battles for the new Episode, players will use the ‘Homing Laser’ and ‘Slash Combo’ attacks to reduce the enemy HP bar on top of the screen, ending with a ‘Data Drain’. Avatar enemies have a blue bar on them which will stun them if depleted, giving players time to deal some massive damage.
Homing Laser:
An attack fired by holding the Square button. A sword-like effect opens up behind Haseo, which turns into an infinite amount of lasers. As there are no ammo limits, players can feel the rush of adrenaline that comes from defeating many weaker enemies at once with a rush of strong lasers.
Slash Combo:
An attack used by tapping Circle repeatedly. It’s a repeated combo of attacks using an energy scythe. ‘Slash waves’ occur whenever the scythe is swung, which can hit enemies a bit further away. The final part of the combo creates a chakram from the edge of the scythe that is hurled at the enemy.
Stun Chance & Stun:
When the enemy gets stunned, a message will pop up at the centre of the screen. Pressing X then will have you dash to the enemy and attack the enemy head on with the scythe for massive damage.
Unison Skeith:
Previously teased through the visual, Unison Skeith is an ultimate Avatar which resulted from Haseo’s ‘Skeith’ and Ovan’s ‘Corbenik’ resonating into this creation. Unison Skeith’s right half of the body looks like Skeith, while the left side looks like Corbenik in terms of coloring. (And yes, Digimon comes to mind.)
.Hack//G.U. Last Recode is due to come out for PlayStation 4 in Japan come November 1, 2017, but the Steam version for PC has been delayed to November 4, 2017.
