During the latest NieR: Automata livestream that celebrated the game’s second anniversary, Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito surprised the crowd by revealing that Yoko Taro is set to become a VTuber in March. [Thanks, DenFamiNicoGamer!]

No, it’s not a joke. Yoko Taro had apparently already been considering something similar using a puppet character, but Saito suggested that they may as well use Emil’s model and try it out once as an experiment.

Yoko Taro is set to appear on Square Enix’s virtual idol group Gems Company’s Wednesday Virtual Cast VRadio show sometime in March. Composer Keiichi Okabe joked that he might just have to come up with a new unit song to sing, to which Yoko Taro replied, “This is the first time I’m hearing this. I’ll sing.”

NieR: Automata is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
