After over 10 years, we’re finally going to see the otome spin-off Hakuoki SSL: Sweet School Life appear in English, and Eastasiasoft shared a first gameplay trailer that highlights the visual novel’s localization. It spends over a minute and a half highlighting some of the scenes and characters. This also comes as the eShop page opens, though that shows the full $49.99/€49.99/£44.99 price and doesn’t show the 20% launch discount or pre-order option yet. This is the spin-off of Hakuoki Shinkai Fukaden.

Hakuoki SSL first appeared on the Vita in 2014, and it takes place in an alternate reality where Chizuru Yukimura is the first girl to attend an all-boys high school called Hakuo Private Academy. The members of the Shinsengumi, instead of warriors, show up as her classmates and teachers. Likewise, enemies like Chikage Kazama show up as ordinary people as well. The trailer goes over the premise, then shows some encounters with her homeroom teacher Sanosuke Harada, her classmate Chikage, and classmate Susumu Yamazaki. We also see some other incidental text, like a text message from Souji Okita and some of the minigames.

Here’s the full Hakuoki SSL: Sweet School Life gameplay trailer showing off parts of the English localization of the otome visual novel. There are no spoilers shown.
