Big Brain Academy was on the show floor and I spent some time checking the game out. There was only one mode to test, the versus mode, where to players race to complete logic puzzles. When you start the game you select a Mii and how many puzzles you want to play. Once you begin the game, Big Brain Academy plays something like Wario Ware where random puzzles are rapidly given to each player. You’re only given simple instructions on how to solve the puzzles and a few seconds to process how to solve them (it is a race after all). One of the puzzles shows players the position three birds and after seeing where they are Big Brain Academy shuffles them between six cages. To complete this puzzle you have to identify where the three birds are, but if you pick one incorrect cage you have to start over. Another puzzle has a stack of four blocks with different numbers and a goal number in the upper right hand corner. To win this game you need to knock out a block to have the remaining three blocks add up to the goal number. For instance if the goal number is 10 and the four blocks are: 5, 3, 2, 4 you would knock out 4. The pace of Big Brain Academy is fast and furious, but since the controls so easy to learn it’s like a party game that the gamer and non gamer audience can enjoy.
