While the toy is a collaboration figure between Hatsune Miku and Mobile Suit Gundam, Miku is wearing a Zaku costume. Zakus are not Gundams; they are mobile suits. It’s based on the Zaku Miku that appears in the “Idol Senshi” music video, which the Gundam Channel uploaded to YouTube on March 9, 2025.

The music video celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Gundam franchise, as well as the 17th anniversary of Hatsune Miku. March 9 is a very important date for both parties, as it’s both Zaku Day and Miku Day. The three for March can be read as either “mi” or “san,” with the nine acting as “ku.”

The Zaku Miku figure stands at around 15 centimeters tall, and her signature pigtails protrude from the sides of the Zaku head. She’s holding a leek in her hand as well. This is a reference to the old Leekspin meme, which had a Miku version, and a possible nod to the retro vibe of the music video.

If you want a Gundam Miku figure that uses a real Gundam (and not a Zaku) as inspiration, other goods in the collaboration include a Miku figure where she’s wearing an outfit like the Wing Gundam Zero from Endless Waltz.

The Gundam and Miku collaboration figure will appear in crane game machines from September 4, 2025.
