Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was announced during Gamescom 2014 and had a tentative 2016 release window. However, issues have arisen that have caused the developer to delay the PlayStation 4 and PC game. It will now be released in 2017.

There are three reasons why Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will launch in 2017. The first has to do with another project Ninja Theory cancelled early this year, which demanded more of the developer’s attention. Then, Ninja Theory had a chance to work with other developers on improving performance capture technology. Finally, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’s development hasn’t proceeded as quickly as possible. They don’t want to risk a drop in quality by rushing.

A new Hellbade: Senua’s Sacrifice video was also released today to introduce people to “Deeper,” an Andy LaPlegua song from the game’s soundtrack.
