Sanrio and Sunblink announced the return of the Hello Kitty Island Adventure annual Friendship Festival event, and it confirmed this year My Melody and Kuromi will be the primary focus. It will start this year on July 27, 2025. This falls in line with past installments that appeared in the game, as the first one began on July 28, 2023, and the second followed on July 25, 2025.

This is the game’s anniversary festival. As such, each year it has more of a formal, party theme to it. However, one common theme is that it allows someone to have two companions with them at once, and that’s been part of it since 2023. We’ll earn special cosmetics during it too, with people needing to take photos with characters around the island to get Friendship Charms to trade for items. There will be new food recipes this time and Art Deco furniture, and we’ll likely see the return of past items.

This also comes after the stop-motion series My Melody & Kuromi debuted on silico. The series consists of 12 episodes that are each about 15 minutes long and follow the adventures of the two mascots and their friends. As such, other notable characters related to them, like Baku and My Sweet Piano, often appear.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is on the Switch, PC, and iOS devices via Apple Arcade, the PS4 and PS5 release date is August 29, 2025, and the Friendship Festival with My Melody and Kuromi starts on July 27, 2025.
