Now that you’ve sunk some time into Fire Emblem Engage, you might be wondering what classes are available. There’s a lot to choose from! Some characters get access to classes just for them! Also, you need to worry about proficiencies and if you reached a certain level in a prerequisite class to access some of them! Not to mention Second Seals and Master Seals are needed to switch to an equivalent level class or promote to an advanced one! To help you out when making important decisions for your army, here are lists of the different classes available.

What are the Fire Emblem Engage Character-Exclusive Classes?
First, there are some classes that are limited to specific characters. You can’t make ordinary units into these. As such, I’m putting them separately here, to make the distinction. As these are just for these people, you don’t need to worry about proficiency requirements to access them. The second these characters hit level 10, when applicable, they can move on up to their advanced class. Though I also really recommend maxing out at level 20 before “evolving.”
- Alcryst: Lord, then Tireur d’Elite
- Alear: Dragon Child, then Divine Dragon
- Alfred: Noble, then Avenir
- Celine: Noble, then Vidame
- Diamant: Lord, then Successeur
- Fogado: Sentinel, then Cupido
- Hortensia: Wing Tamer, then Sleipnir Rider
- Ivy: Wing Tamer, then Lindwurm
- Timerra: Sentinel, then Picket
Note that these characters can change to other classes. However, these classes are best for them.
The lone exceptions among these character-specific classes are Seadall and Veyle. He is the only Dancer, while she is the only Fell Child. Both can reach up to level 40. There are no “advanced” version of these classes.
What are the General Fire Emblem Engage Classes?
Okay, here’s where we get into the thick of things! To make things easier, we’ll divide these up into the “base” classes and advanced classes.
First, here are the Fire Emblem Engage base classes and the weapon proficiencies they require. You don’t need to master any other classes in order to become them, but you will need a Second Seal to swap.
- Archer – Bow weapon proficiency required
- Axe Armor – Axe weapon proficiency required
- Axe Cavalier – Axe weapon proficiency required
- Axe Fighter – Axe weapon proficiency required
- Axe Flier – Axe weapon proficiency required
- Lance Armor – Lance weapon proficiency required
- Lance Cavalier – Lance weapon proficiency required
- Lance Fighter – Lance weapon proficiency required
- Lance Flier – Lance weapon proficiency required
- Mage – Tome weapon proficiency required
- Martial Monk – Arts and staff weapon proficiency required
- Sword Armor – Sword weapon proficiency required
- Sword Cavalier – Sword weapon proficiency required
- Sword Fighter – Sword weapon proficiency required
- Sword Flier – Sword weapon proficiency required
- Thief – Knife weapon proficiency required (note that this is a special class that can go up to level 10 and has no advanced option)
Now, with the Advanced classes things can get a bit trickier in Fire Emblem Engage. This is because You need to have reached level 10 in a certain basic class, have weapon proficiencies, and own a Master Seal. However, there are versions of these Advanced classes that have different weapon requirements. So there are Mage Knights that can only use axes and tomes, and different ones that can also use swords and tomes. What’s available all comes down to the proficiencies the character possesses.
- Berserker – Reached Axe Fighter level 10 and axe weapon proficiency required
- Bow Knight – Reached Archer level 10 and bow and either axe, lance, or sword weapon proficiency required
- General – Reached Axe, Lance, or Sword Armor level 10 and axe, lance, or sword weapon proficiency required
- Great Knight – Reached Axe, Lance, or Sword Armor level 10 and axe and lance, axe and sword, or lance and sword weapon proficiency required
- Griffin Knight – Reached Axe, Lance, or Sword Flier level 10 and axe, lance, or sword with staff weapon proficiency required
- Halberdier – Reached Lance Fighter level 10 and lance weapon proficiency required
- Hero – Reached Sword Fighter level 10 and ether axe and sword or lance and sword weapon proficiency required
- High Priest – Reached Martial Monk level 10 and arts, staff and tome weapon proficiency required
- Mage Knight – Reached Mage level 10 and tome and either axe, lance, or sword weapon proficiency required
- Martial Master – Reached Martial Monk level 10 and arts and staff weapon proficiency required
- Paladin – Reached Axe, Lance, or Sword Cavalier level 10 and axe, lance, or sword weapon proficiency required
- Royal Knight – Reached Lance Fighter level 10 and lance and staff weapon proficiency required
- Sage – Reached Mage level 10 and staff and tome weapon proficiency required
- Sniper – Reached Archer level 10 and bow weapon proficiency required
- Swordmaster – Reached Sword Fighter level 10 and sword weapon proficiency required
- Warrior – Reached Axe Fighter level 10 and axe and bow weapon proficiency required
- Wolf Knight – Reached Axe, Lance, or Sword Cavalier level 10 and knife and axe, lance, or sword weapon proficiency required
- Wyvern Knight – Reached Axe, Lance, or Sword Flier level 10 and axe and lance, axe and sword, or lance and sword weapon proficiency required.
Keep in mind that these Advanced classes have specific skills tied to them, which they learn at level five.
