BGM, sound effects, and voices are now in higher quality. There are also newly arranged songs by composer Takeharu Ishimoto. Background music can be switched between the original version and arranged version. at any time in the game menu.
Additionally, a new scenario has been added:
New Reapers make an appearance, and that means we’ll learn about a new story that has yet to be told. That also means new Noise will be added to go with the new scenario.
For those of you unfamiliar with The World Ends With You, here’s a little summary from Square Enix:
Welcome to Shibuya, a mishmash of attitudes and styles in the heart of Tokyo.
A boy named Neku wakes up in a crowded intersection, alone and unaware of how he got there. Then, he receives a weird text: “Clear this mission…or face erasure.” With that, Neku is thrust into a life-or-death game that sends him scrambling down streets paved with one riddle after another…
What is the Reaper’s Game? Why is Neku a Player, and what is he playing for? Will the Game really end if he survives all seven days? Another mystery is always around the corner.
Here’s a closer look at some of the key characters:
Next is a look at a couple Reapers:
The Reapers’ Game
Neko and friends are trapped in Shibuya and get forced into participating in the Reapers’ Game. This is a game of life and death where participants must clear a mission once a day. Failing to do results in having their existence erased. The goal is to work with partners to survive through the seven days.
Participants receive info on the mission through their phones. A countdown showing the remaining time is visible on the palm of the participants. When it reaches 0s, their existence gets erased.
The setting is Shibuya of the 2000s, with streets and buildings based on what you see in the real-life Shibuya.
The Reapers aren’t allowed to directly beat participants of their game, so they’ve created mysterious creatures known as Noise to do the job. Here’s a look at some of the Noise:
You’ll need to team up with a partner to take on the Noise:
