Cover announced that Hololive Japan Vtuber Akai Haato, also known as Haachama, will be on hiatus. It is unknown how long she will be on a break. Apparently, the performer came to this decision with the help of her family. The goal is to use the break to take time to recover “due to her current mental state.” Cover also said it will take action to remove any defamation or rumors regarding her.

A similar statement was shared on her official social media account, which you can see below. It also apologized for the situation and asked for fans’ understanding:

This comes after an Akai Haato stream on October 28, 2025, during which Haachama got to talking about more serious topics and her feelings regarding her personal life and time as a Hololive Vtuber. Some viewers then started spreading clips of the videos.

In response, Cover in its announcement stated the following:

“In light of this matter, it has come to our attention that, in addition to statements made by Akai Haato being taken out of context and inappropriately circulated online as rumors, other talents, including those that have been mentioned by name on-stream, are being subjected to the arbitrary exaggeration and selective extraction of information as well as offensive behavior and defamation based on mere speculation.

This conduct significantly harms the talent’s reputation and affects their mental well-being, actions which cannot be taken lightly. In particular, we are witnessing numerous comments of bullying taking place, leading to quotes from her streams being misinterpreted and misconstrued.

We recognize that certain comments by Akai Haato on her livestream were made in a state of mental instability. Therefore, we have removed any streams containing such comments and are continuing to remove any related illegal copies of these videos.

In line with company policy regarding such conduct, we are continuing to take strict civil and criminal action, including enforcing legal measures that require the disclosure of sender information and filing lawsuits as necessary. We urge everyone to refrain from engaging in any conduct that may be considered inappropriate or offensive.”

In addition to the company bringing up the situation with Haachama, it requested people report any defamation they see toward her or other Hololive Vtubers. It offered an official form to use.

Akai Haato is one of the members who has been with Hololive the longest, as the Vtuber joined back in June 2018, and Haachama debuted alongside Aki Rosenthal, Natsuiro Matsuri, Shirakami Fubuki, and Yozora Mel. She, like many performers with the company has gone on hiatus before to take time to recover for both personal and professional reasons. One of her longest recent ones took place in 2023, though she did take a brief break in September 2025.

Some of the most recent streams from Haachama involved her travels around Japan, with one involving the Hololive Vtuber taking a trip to Mount Fuji. You can watch that one below.

There is no word yet on when Hololive Vtuber Akai Haato, aka Haachama, will return to streaming. Future announcements may be found on her official social media account.
