A Switch version of Homicipher will come out on March 26, 2026, and a physical version will be available as well. It’ll have support in four languages: Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
The game has a CERO rating of D, meaning that it’s recommended for players aged 17 and up. It’ll cost 5280 JPY after tax (about $33.70) for both the digital and physical versions. As a note, while there is support for four different languages, there are no voices in the game. Everything is communicated via text.
Homicipher first came out on Windows PC in November 2024. It has an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam. As of the time of writing, 98% of the 2663 English user reviews for the game have been positive.
Developer Yatsunagi describes the game as a “female-oriented language decoding escape horror” adventure. In the game, you play as a girl who finds herself in another world full of half-handsome, half-uncanny men who speak in a language she doesn’t recognize. The point of the game is to learn and decipher their language, communicate with them, and ask them to help you home. The potential monster romance is a bonus.
