Ahead of her playable debut, HoYoVerse shared booth HoYoLab and “Keeping Up with Star Rail” details about how Fate/stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works heroine Rin Tohsaka works in Honkai: Star Rail. The new Erudition character’s full moveset is covered, including how her Gem Magecraft is used to build up Gem Energy to enhance her Jeweled Sword Zelretch Skill into Second Magic Experiment. She also has a special Talent that kicks in if she’s in a party alongside her established Servant and fellow playable character Archer.

Rin is in Planarcadia and apparently stole the Penacony event Holy Grail in hopes of using it to get home. Her basic Bajiquan Attack hits one enemy and deals Quantum damage. Likewise, the standard Jeweled Sword Zelretch Skill is a single-target attack. If she’s accumulated three Gem Energy, however, she can use the Enhanced Skill Second Magic Experiment that is an AOE attack that hits every enemy. That continues to also draw from Skill Points until only two are left to continue hitting foes. Her Ultimate is An Gal Ta Ki Gal Se, which is an AOE attack that also inflicts a debuff that increases damage dealt to enemies and recovers one Skill Point.

As for the Rin and Archer team up, that is tied to the Freeform Tohsaka Style Talent. It shows up at about the 3:47 mark of the new YouTube video. It’s tied to Archer’s Caladbog II: Fake Spiral Sword Skill and Skill Points, and it will result in a Joint Follow-Up Attack by both characters. Both must be present in a party for this to happen, however.

Here’s the “Rin Tohsaka: How to Use Smartphones in the Space Age” Honkai: Star Rail trailer.

Honkai: Star Rail is on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Fate/stay Night Holy Grail War Sequel crossover event starts on July 24, 2026.
