Pawns can be recruited in several ways. This can be done either through encountering a Pawn as it is wandering the world map or through Riftstones. These are found in almost every major city, and players will encounter one during the first hour of the game. This is also how you are able to create your own Pawn, which you can tailor make to your own liking.

Accessing a Riftstone is extremely easy. Simply walk up to it to access the Rift. This is where you can find Pawns other players have created or have been generated to recruit. It’s really that simple. You can even recruit the Pawns of your friends through this method. This means if you’re struggling with a quest a friend has completed, their Pawn may be of assistance. Riftstones are marked on your map by an icon that looks like a stone with a swirl in the center.

Recruiting Pawns comes at a cost. The higher level and more experienced the Pawn is, the more RC you will need to fork out to take this companion with you. For example, if you would like to recruit a Pawn that is Level 8, it could cost 396 RC minimum. However, the level and experience of the Pawn could contribute to how much that overall recruitment fee will be. This goes for Pawns you will find wandering on the world map as well.

You will always need to pay a price for recruiting Pawns, but their help is invaluable. Keep in mind that the Pawns you recruit can even have information on quests you are currently undertaking or even know where specific hidden secrets are around the world. It all really depends on where their player character has taken them. Your Pawn will glean this information as well, which can make them an ideal recruitment candidate.
