Experience points are crucial to leveling up your classes in Final Fantasy XIV, and one of the best ways to ensure you’re leveling as efficiently as possible is through the use of Rested XP. This is basically another way to improve your character by going to a Sanctuary.
How do I use Rested XP in FFXIV?
While Rested XP is active, you gain a 50% experience bonus when gathering, synthesizing, and defeating enemies. It is accrued by, quite literally, resting. When you’re not playing FFXIV, whether you’re logged out or AFK, you gain Rested XP while in a Sanctuary, indicated by an orange or blue color in your XP bar.
When your XP bar is partially blue, this means that your Rested XP bonus carries over into your next level. When it’s orange, this marks when your Rested XP bonus will stop; once the XP bar goes over the orange indicator, the Rested XP bonus ends.
As long as you remember to either log out or go idle while in a Sanctuary, indicated by a crescent moon symbol at the right of your experience bar, you’ll start earning a Rested XP bonus. Note that there’s a seven-day cap before you stop accruing it, so make sure to use it as often as possible to avoid hitting the limit.
Final Fantasy XIV is available to play now on the PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 and is coming to the Xbox Series X in Spring 2024. A paid monthly subscription is required.
