How to Change Your Appearance in Diablo IV

How to Change Appearance Diablo IV

Diablo IV features a little more involved character creator than its predecessors. While players can pick from a couple of different face sculpts and hair styles, there is a way to change your appearance in Diablo IV. That said, it only affects it less permanent choices, such as makeup, jewelry, and markings. These can be changed after you complete the Prologue of the game and make your way to Kyovashad.

How to change your appearance with the Wardrobe in Diablo IV

You can change your appearance in Diablo IV by going to the Wardrobe icon on your map. From there, you can select the “Appearance” tab to adjust whatever you like. Again, you cannot change your face, hair, or skin color, which makes it a little limited. Thankfully, these minor adjustments can be made without costing any gold.

You can see where you can access the Wardrobe in Kyovashad, and what the “Appearance” menu looks like below.

However, the Wardrobe also serves a secondary purpose. Players can also create an “Ensemble.” These function similarly to Glamour Plates in Final Fantasy XIV. For those unfamiliar with that system, you can effectively create a set look that won’t change even if you equip different gear. This means that you don’t need to head back to any specific NPC to transmogrify the appearance of your new items whenever you equip something new. You can also choose the color of specific pieces of your attire and apply them to your gear entirely for free. However, opening up new “Ensemble” slots will cost gold.

Any gear obtained can be used in an “Ensemble.” Which means that so long as you pick up a piece of gear, either dropped by an enemy or through the Battle Pass, you can use it as part of a transmog. After obtaining it, you can sell the item for gold.

Additionally, after unlocking the transmog system you can access a wardrobe in any of the major cities to change the appearance of your gear. What you cannot change, however, is your face and eye color. That will be permanent upon making your character.

Diablo IV is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.
