How to Complete the Out of Pasture Side Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Out to Pasture side quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows can be found early on. A farmer wants the land cleansed of bandits, who are causing problems for the local residents.

Where is the Out to Pasture Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

You can find the Out to Pasture Quest east of Sakai in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, at a small farm just north of the Old Kofun. The Old Kofun shows up as a question mark between the Izumi Coast label and the river, if you’ve been using Viewpoints regularly.

At this small farm, you’ll find a peasant who is troubled by bandits. He asks if you’ll be willing to tackle them for him, in exchange for some rewards. The quest requires you to hunt down and kill 100 bandits across Settsu. This is technically three quests, as you also gain rewards for killing 25 and then 50 bandits before the final reward.

Bandits can be found all across the map, sometimes just while travelling the roads. You can identify them because they always show up as red in Naoe’s Eagle Vision, and unlike soldiers or guards, they often appear shabby and with minimal armor. While you could spend a lot of time searching the map for bandits on the roads, there are some guaranteed camps where you can always find a group of them.

Where to Find Bandit Camps

There are many locations you can find bandits in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, I can recommend three locations within close proximity of the Out of Pasture quest giver. With these, you can easily find bandits and take several of them out in one sitting.

The first of these is within Sakai itself. The Money Changer District can be found in the west part of Sakai, near the port. When you walk near it, it will be marked permanently on your map with a red diamond. This small region is full of bandits who will attack you sight if you enter. But if you stay out of sight, they can be taken out steadily without too much trouble.

Another excellent bandit camp you can raid is the Mount Kongo Retreat, which can be found southeast of Sakai. It can be found by following a road that starts near the southeast corner of the town, and it follows the river. This camp is more open and harder to sneak around. It also has a couple of Elites to deal with, so try and take out their weaker friends before squaring off against these two. Helpfully, this location has three Stockpiles you can raid too.

Finally, another recurring bandit location is west of the hideout. Fast travel to the hideout, leave it and then take the road to the northwest. You’ll reach a bridge. Across this bridge, four bandits lie in wait ready for an ambush. They can be seen with Eagle Vision as you approach. Sadly, no matter how hard you try, you cannot sneak up on these bandits. Fortunately, they are weak and easily dealt with. Just make sure there are no patrolling soldiers before you approach, as they will make your life a lot more difficult.

Once you have cleared one of these bandit locations, no more bandits will appear here. However, once the season changes, they will repopulate. So the best way to complete the quest is to visit these three locations after each season change, take out all the bandits and build your numbers that way. Loot will also repopulate, so feel free to grab whatever you can from the camps while you’re there.

Each milestone will automatically reward you, except for the last of the 100, which requires you to return to the farmer and accept your rewards from him.
