How to Cross Broken Rails in Tears of the Kingdom

When you first start out on your Hyrule adventure, you’ll come across broken rails in Tears of the Kingdom. Specifically, you can see them on Great Sky Island. It confused me at first and it may for you too. So how do you get across these in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Here’s what you need to know.

How do I cross broken rails in Tears of the Kingdom?

When I tried to go across the broken rails, I attempted to crab shuffle across them slowly because I didn’t know what to do. Don’t do that because, spoiler alert, I got about a quarter of the way. Then I fell and died. (Press F to pay respects.) But there is actually an intended way to cross the broken rails in Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s super fun.

Looking around nearby, you’ll see a minecart, some unattached fans, and a weird, hook-like thing. Using Link’s Ultrahand ability, glue a fan to the back of the minecart, then stick the hook inside, leaving room for you. Make sure the hook is facing upright. Imagine a coathanger in your closet. That’s the position you want. Anything else, and it won’t work.

Use Ultrahand again to grab your newly-created contraption and hang it on the rail that isn’t broken. Do you see where we’re going with this? Hop into the minecart, then whack the fan with your weapon to activate it. You’ll be pushed across the rail; no crab shuffling required. And that’s it!

There’s something so incredibly satisfying about seeing your weird creations actually work in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (you can unfuse them, too, if you need to).
