How to Earn the Read Between the Lines Achievement in WoW: The War Within

The new zones in the Undermined update have several lore books secreted away, and finding them all is part of the meta-achievement “Going Goblin Mode”. You’ll also get a unique toy for your troubles, so here’s how to find all the Undermine Lore Books and earn the ‘Read Between the Lines’ Achievement in World of Warcraft: The War Within.

All Undermine Lore Book Locations in WoW: The War Within

There are 7 Unique Lore Books required as part of the ‘Read Between the Lines’ achievement in WoW‘s new Undermine zone, two of which are actually located in the Ringing Deeps rather than Undermine itself. You can find a pair of maps marking each of their locations below, followed by a brief description of where to find them and screenshots of each page in the overworld.

Before starting your hunt, however, do note that the final 4 lore books don’t seem to appear until you complete the first 4 chapters of the undermine story. But once you do they’ll appear on your minimap as a magnifying glass symbol, making it easier to find them.

• 1 – Rocket Safety Drill Manual: In the new area of the Ringing Deeps, by the large Drill-Rocket you’ll take to get to Undermine.
• 2 – Extractor Drill X-78 Safety Guide: This informative read is sat by Trixxie Boltcrank in the cave south-west of Gutterville, again in the Ringing Deeps. There’s a quest-giver just outside the cave, and following the quest will take you right to Trixxie.
• 3 – Misplaced Work Order: Once in Undermine, you can head up to the Blackwater Marina in the north-east to find this lore item sat on some Black Blood Containers by a wooden pier.
• 4 – A Threatening Letter: This letter can be found in the Steamwheedle Cartel’s laboratory in south-west Undermine, on the desk next to where you meet Noggenfogger during the story.
• 5 – First Half of Marin Noggenfogger’s Journal: This piece is located in one of the little sewer areas around Undermine. Go to the Bilgewater headquarters in the Flats and just south of the building will be a sewer entrance, near where the Skyrocketing Sprint race starts. The journal page should be midway through the sewer, on a pile to your right.
• 6 – Second Half of Marin Noggenfogger’s Journal: Also secreted in a sewer, this time with the entrance on the corner just south-west of the Sidestreet Sluice Delve. Head to the end of the sewer and it should be on a shelf to your left.
• 7 – Gallywix’s Notes: Inside the cave in the Heaps where you confront Gallywix. Head in and hug the right wall and you should find it sat on a desk.
