How to Evolve Tandemaus into Maushold in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Tandemaus is a rather unique normal-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet, in that it looks like a duo that becomes a trio or quartet when you evolve one into a Maushold. However, getting that to happen can be a little tricky! Also, since it is so small, you might have trouble finding one.

If you check the Pokedex entries, it’ll suggest Tandemaus is a Pokemon that can be found in a number of areas around Paldea. However, I only saw it rather frequently around the Artazon area. For example, just before I entered town at its west gate, I saw it around the Squawkabilly flock and Baile Style Oricorios. I also saw some around Mela’s Team Star hideout.

However, this is also a Pokemon you can find in two-star Tera Raids. So if you’re having trouble, open up that online multiplayer menu and look.

My first experience with evolving my Tandemaus seems to be an atypical one! When mine leveled up from level 25 to 26 following a battle with a wild Pokemon, I saw a traditional evolution scene with it turning into Maushold. However, prior to that, I had used experience items to bring it up from a lower level to the more viable 25. Seeing as how it didn’t evolve prior to that, it seems taking part in a battle is a critical part of its evolution. So if you have a Tandemaus at level 24 or 25, bring it into a fights you know it can win until it evolves.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is available for the Nintendo Switch.
