South of Midnight is a heavily combat-focused experience, so you will be constantly fighting enemies that will damage your HP. Not only can you replenish HP often, but it is possible to do even more than that with the help of Health Filaments, which you can find throughout the world in South of Midnight.

How to Find Health Filaments in South of Midnight
You can find Health Filaments throughout the world and in most chapters of the main story. What you want to look for is a large green glowing object that you are able to interact with and collect. If you want to do your best in combat, you are going to want to seek these out. Early in the game, it is pretty easy to find Health Filaments.
But, as time goes on, you will need to go off the beaten path to find them. My recommendation for this is to use the Strands that guide you to the next part of the main story. It will show you where to go for the next boss battle or cutscene. Then ignore that completely and go in the opposite direction. This is how you often find hidden collectibles like the Health Filaments.

How Health Filaments Work
The reason you want to collect as many Health Filaments as possible in South of Midnight is because of what it does for your health. If you want to restore and even increase your HP in this game, you are going to want to find as many Health Filaments as possible. However, just finding one will not increase Hazel’s HP.
Instead, you will get more health for every three Health Filaments you find. This is a bit frustrating, but the payoff is well worth it for making combat a bit easier to handle. This is also why it is essential that you explore every area thoroughly so you can find all of them. Thankfully, this isn’t too hard in this rather linear experience.
South of Midnight is available right now for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
