How to Finish ‘Not to Be Outdone’ in Final Fantasy XVI

You won’t just help people at the hideaway create one unusual dish. “A Culinary Pilgrimage” is just the start. Once you get to the “Things Fall Apart” story quest, you’ll happen upon another. This time, Clive will help Molly create something in “Not to Be Outdone” in Final Fantasy XVI.

When this quest showed up for me, I was able to start it, but then needed to visit Krozjit Echoes to advance the story a bit before I could head to Northreach to finish the rest. But you can do the hideaway bits right away. First, visit Molly at the kitchen to take the quest. She needs to know what two of the ingredients of fried mortress of skyworm are.

Head over to Tomes in the library. He’ll explain that you’ll need to go to the Northreach coast to fight a blueback wyvern for its liver and collect some saint’s bonnet herbs. Both of the highlighted locations for them are in the Royal Meadows area. You’ll need to walk right past the dragon to reach the plants, so take care of that first. I took a screenshot to show exactly where it will be on the map, which you can see below.

Slay the blueback wyvern to get 150 EXP, 60 AP, 290 gil, a Raptor Liver, and a Dragon Talon. Now, head north a bit to the point on the map I shared below. You’ll see a cluster of yellow flowers. There’ll be a prompt to gather some, which will give you one saint’s bonnet.

Now that you have both ingredients, head back to Molly. Give them to her. After a short conversation, you’ll get 700 EXP, 25 renown, 25 Sharp Fangs, and 75 Bloody Hides.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
