How to Finish ‘Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol’ in Final Fantasy XVI

“The Root of the Problem” sidequest isn’t the only way to increase potion potency in Final Fantasy XVI. There’s another step after that. However, it only shows up later in the game once you’re in the midst of the “A Song of Hope” storyline mission. That’s when “Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol” lets you maximize potion potency in Final Fantasy XVI.

How does “Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol” work in Final Fantasy XVI

Well, this is another sidequest tied to a Notorious Mark that only becomes available once you start it. When “A Song of Hope” is active, check your hideaway’s garden area to see if the sidequest marker is there for Nigel. If so, you can pick up this quest and take the steps to improve your potions again. Nigel will say he needs a part of a specific Morbol. This means it’s time to hunt.

After you find out that a Notorious Mark is involved, you could check in with Nektar at the Hunt Board to learn exactly where Carrot the Morbol is. However, since you’re reading my guide, you can skip that part if you want. All it notes is that it is a B-rank Mark in Rosaria’s Three Reeds area, specifically lurking in the swamp at The Whispering Waters. I took a screenshot and you can see exactly where it is below.

This creature knows all of the typical Final Fantasy XVI Morbol dirty tricks. Bad Breath. Acid Rain. Diving into the water, then leaping out to attack. I was at level 37 when I fought this level 35 created and fared pretty well, so you should make it through okay as long as you’re around its level. Once you slay it, you get 2,000 EXP, 70 AP, 10,000 gil, 20 renown, a Morbol Tendril, and a Morbol Flower.

Report back to Nigel and give him the Morbol Tendril. He’ll give you 1,200 EXP, 45 renown, a Goblin Coin, and an Invigorated Morganbeard Extract. That latter item maximized the consumable potency once in your inventory, meaning your Final Fantasy XVI Potion and High Potion heal more HP and the Lionheart, Stoneskin, and Strength Tonics last longer.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
