The free-to-play superhero competitive multiplayer experience Marvel Rivals is now available for players to check out. Well, some players at least. Unfortunately, as this is an online experience, there are quite a few issues players are running into, especially on PC. Here’s what we know about how to fix the Marvel Rivals DirectX 12 is not supported message error that is an issue for some of us.
Why am I getting a “DirectX 12 Is Not Supported” message in Marvel Rivals?
The error message of this particular problem makes it pretty clear the issue here. There is some problem with DirectX 12 (or the lack thereof) that is causing you to not be able to enjoy Marvel Rivals right now. It is worth noting that this free-to-play experience requires PC players to have the DirectX 12 version if they want to be able to play it.
This essentially means it is likely not possible to play with DirectX 11, though some players have tried. This can be the cause of this particular error message. However, there are also players who do have 12, but are still getting this message regardless and are unable to play the online experience at all.
How do I fix the Marvel Rivals DirectX 12 error?
The first step to figuring out how to fix the Marvel Rivals DirectX 12 is not supported error message has to do with whether or not you have this version. If you don’t, you will need to get it right now. But if you do and still have this problem, there are a couple of steps to take. First, you want to try updating your drivers and DirectX 12.
In addition, if for some reason you are using your integrated graphics by default, be sure to switch to your dedicated GPU. The final possible solution is to try what the message seemingly suggests. It notes to try running without the “-dx12 or -d3d1” command. Open up the properties for the game on Steam and see if this line is in the target box for the launcher .exe file.
If it is there, delete it. Should you not see it there, try adding one of those commands. If this still doesn’t work, it is now time to reach out to support. You can do this through Steam itself or by contacting NetEase Games.
Marvel Rivals is available right now for free for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
