How to Get a Metal Smelter in Lego Fortnite

The Metal Smelter is one of the most important tool stations players can build in Lego Fortnite. As the name suggests, it is great for melting down various metals and other valuable materials like glass. Though it is more of an endgame-style station, it is worth knowing how to get one set up for when the time comes and you can use it.

How do I unlock and build a Metal Smelter in Lego Fortnite?

If you want to get a Metal Smelter in Lego Fortnite, first, you need to unlock its build option in the first place. This takes a bit of grinding in the game, as you won’t unlock this station as a build option until you reach at least level nine (out of 10 possible levels) for your village. This means building out a ton of the village, upgrading various parts, and inviting new citizens to live there.

Once you reach level nine in your village, here are the materials you need to gather to build a Metal Smelter:

  • 3 Blast Cores
  • 15 Brightcores
  • 35 Obsidian Slabs

Where do I find Blast Cores, Brightcores, and Obsidian Slabs?

The tricky part about building a Metal Smelter in this survival game, other than unlocking it in the first place, is getting enough of the three materials. Fortunately, all three of them have to do with the same general spot. What you want to do is head to the Dry Valley desert biome and go into one of the caves here. These caves are lava caves, filled with dangerous lava and enemies.

You get Blast Cores from defeating the blaster rollers in lava caves, which are a variant of the rolling crabs. Brightcores are found on the walls of the cave and can be mined there easily. Finally, you can also find obsidian to mine as the darker material on the walls of these lava caves. Take that obsidian to a Stone Breaker station in your village to turn it into Obsidian Slabs. With all of this now, you can build a Metal Smelter.

Lego Fortnite is available for Android devices, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
