How to Get a Model Airship in Final Fantasy XVI with ‘Aiming High’

While you won’t explore via airship in Final Fantasy XVI, you can get a Model Airship by completing the “Aiming High” Mid sidequest. This is one of the endgame optional missions that comes up ahead of taking on the “Back to Their Origins” storyline quest. Doing so lets you learn more about the character and get a decoration, though it does involve some busywork.

How to finish “Aiming High” to get a Model Airship in Final Fantasy XVI

So before you take “Back to Their Origins” in Final Fantasy XVI, you’ll see the trio of kids led by Josselin have an “Aiming High” quest tied to them at the hideaway. Talk to them to find out Mid is acting odd. Head down below to her workshop and she’ll explain about how she’s working on a new project. However, she needs some parts to get things done. That’s where Clive and you get to fetching items for the quest.

From here, you need to head to the Rosaria map via the Auldhyl Docks fast travel point. You need to get two Shipwright’s Tallow from there. I highlighted the locations of both on the map before. Indicators are right there. No monsters are around. You can easily grab them.

Next, you need an Adamantoise Shell. You get this by heading to the Dhalmekian Republic map. Fast travel to Dravozd, then head southwest to Uld Bidza. The level 40 Desert Tor you need to defeat to get that item is right on the spot on the map below.

Defeating it gets you 750 EXP, 120 AP, 480 gil, an Adamantoise Shell, 32 Sharp Fangs, and a Meteorite. Go back to the hideaway and hand over the Adamantoise Shell and two Shipwright’s Tallows to Mid. However, you aren’t done yet. Go back upstairs and talk to Josselin and the other two kids. They’ll give you a Brass Cogwheel, which you’ll need to take to Mid. After a brief segment, you’ll finish the Final Fantasy XVI “Aiming High” quest and get a Model Airship curiosity for Clive’s room, 5,600 EXP, 500 AP, and 30 renown.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. A demo is out now as well. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
