Good news! You can get and revive fossils to add prehistoric Pokemon to your party in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The thing is, you need to wait until a specific side mission shows up on the map to unlock the feature. But when it does show up, you get one of two fossils and characters for free.

How do I get and revive fossils in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Honestly, you’ll probably happen upon the place where you can buy fossils in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and maybe even get one or two before you reach a point at which you can revive them. They’re sold at the Stone Emporium store.  It sells the Jaw Fossils (Tyrunt) and Sail Fossils (Amaura) for 20,000 each. The Old Amber (Aerodactyl) is also there for 50,000.

The mission you’re looking for is 27, which is called “Restored from a Fossil. It will be at the Pokemon Research Lab, which is right near Wild Zone 1. The person making the request, Reg, is on the second floor. He’ll give you 20,000 and ask you to buy either a Jaw Fossil or a Sail Fossil to test his technology. Head over to the store, which is just down the Vernal Avenue street nearby, get the one tied to the Pokemon you’d want most, and head back.

Here are the locations of both places on the Lumiose Map.

In addition to getting either an Amaura or Tyrunt, you’ll get 2,500, a Hard Stone, a Kelpsy Berry and free access to use the lab’s tech to revive any fossil you get in Pokemon Legends: Z-A from here on out.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is available for the Switch and Switch 2.
