Where to find Bronze in Hades 2 (Exact Location)

In Hades 2, Bronze can only be found in the Surface world above Tartarus. If you spent hours wondering how to unlock the Rod of Fishing, you are not alone! After all, Bronze is nowhere to be found in the underworld, even if you manage to make it to Chronos.

That is because Bronze only spawns on the surface, which you need to unlock by progressing the game. Specifically, you get access to the Surface in Hades 2 after speaking to Hermes in Oceanus and completing the “Permeation of Witching Wards” incantation.

Below are the steps to get Bronze in Hades 2:

  • Progress your run to the end of the Oceanus level.
  • Once you’ve made it far enough, you will meet Hermes in person for the first time.
  • Hermes will then ask you to visit Mount Olympus.
  • Return to the Crossroads home base and interact with the Incantations pot.
  • Complete the “Permeation of Witching Wards” incantation to unlock the Surface world.
  • Enter the Surface world and look for a giant Bronze pot in the overworld.
  • Use your Crescent Pick gathering tool to mine Bronze off it.
  • If you don’t see a Bronze pot, let Melinoe die and return to The Crossroads. Re-enter the Surface and try again.
  • Keep repeating the steps above until you find a randomized Bronze spawn in the Surface overworld.

How to Unlock Surface in Hades II

Before diving into this, it should be stated that completing the “Unraveling a Fateful Bond” incantation will allow Melinoe to breathe in the Surface world. However, most players will not be able to complete this incantation until late-game, as you need to defeat Chronos.

You do not need “Unraveling a Fateful Bond” to get Bronze in Hades II. However, having it completed makes it a lot easier. After unlocking the Surface world by completing the “Permeation of Witching Wards” incantation, you will only have a few minutes before automatically dying.

To get access to the “Permeation of Witching Wards” incantation, you need to progress your game to the end of the Oceanus level. Once you have had a successful run that progresses you that far into the story, you will meet Hermes in person. He will then ask you to visit Mount Olympus on the Surface, which will unlock the incantation at The Crossroads.

Following your conversation with Hermes, return to the Crossroads. After you have the “Permeation of Witching Wards” unlocked, exit to the training grounds and look for the staircase to the right of the area. In the past, there was a “ward” that prevented you from entering. However, it should now be lifted, and you can walk up it to enter the Surface world.

To get Bronze in Hades 2 early, you need to sprint through the opening two areas of the Surface world as quickly as possible. Kill enemies fast and progress through each door while looking for a giant bronze pot in the overworld.

If you see a pot, use your Crescent Pick to farm the material. If you don’t see Bronze, then let Melinoe die and then keep repeating runs on the Surface until a random spawn of Bronze appears. For your convenience, here is an image of what you need to look for to get Bronze at the Surface world:

The key here is to not give up. You will die a lot, but you can re-enter the Surface world as many times as you want without consequence. Just keep pushing through the opening area over and over until you see a Bronze pot spawn in. It only took me around 10 minutes to do this to farm 6 Bronze material. This will then allow you to unlock the Rod of Fishing early in the game.

And, of course, you want to eventually complete the “Unraveling a Fateful Bond” incantation so you can farm Bronze without having to die. However, most players will want to farm the precious metal material as soon as possible. So once you have access to the Surface, you can start farming Bronze.

Hades II Early Access is available now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
