There are two main ways of getting furniture in Minecraft‘s Hello Kitty and Friends DLC — the Kawaii Mart and Capsules.

The Kawaii Mart sells a selection of furniture to the left of the counter. The items on offer change each in-game day, so be sure to check in regularly. Once you’ve purchased an item, you can repurchase it at any time through the regular Kawaii Mart menu.

Another method of getting new furniture is using the gachapon machine outside and inside Kawaii Mart. At these machines, you can use a Surprise Token to gain a Surprise Capsule, which you can throw to gain a random item. Just be careful not to throw these at a wall and lose your item like I did.

Surprise Tokens come from completing select tasks and competing in festivities. Speaking of tasks, you can occasionally get unique furniture from specific tasks, such as the Summer Ribbon from the Summer Festival.

How to place and move furniture

To place furniture, select it from your hotbar and press the left trigger or right click in your desired spot. You can only place items inside your own home, so this (sadly) won’t work outside.

You can remove furniture by pressing the right trigger or left click. Doing this adds it back into your inventory, allowing you to place it again in a better area. If you have no plans to use a piece of furniture, you can sell it at the Kawaii Mart for Gems.

To upgrade your house, you need blueprints obtained through certain villager tasks. Once you have a blueprint, it gets automatically added to the board outside your home.

The blueprint board displays the number of resources needed to upgrade your house to the next level. These resources include Iron, Stone, and Wood.

Iron and Stone can be mined with the Pickaxe in the mine. To get there, interact with the minecart near your house. For wood, you need to chop fallen logs with the Axe in the forest on the way to town.

To contribute, simply interact with the board while the resources are in your hotbar. You need a lot of resources to upgrade your house, so keep calling in at the forest and mine each day to ensure you have enough.

Can you change the color of your house?

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the color of your house in Minecraft Hello Kitty and Friends. You can use the paint buckets sold in Kawaii Mart to recolor beehives, but they don’t work on the interior or exterior of your home.

Minecraft and the Hello Kitty and Friends DLC are available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
