You can gain access to a card game minigame in Eiyuden Chronicle, but first you need to recruit a character named Glen. Doing so requires quite a bit of backtracking, but it’s worth it if you want an extra activity.
How do I recruit Glen in Eiyuden Chronicle?
Well, simply put, you need to find Glen and beat him at his own game!
Once I gained access to Carrie after recruiting her upon reaching Hishahn for the first time, I paused advancing the story to fast travel to every past town in the game. (This is right when you’re reunited with some old friends after finishing the Proving Grounds dungeon.)
You’ll find Glen in Arenside. That’s the town where Nowa joined the watch in the prologue. In fact, Glen is standing right outside the building here Nowa met Garr, Lian, and Mio. He’s just finishing up a card game. Talk to him and he’ll give you a deck, then challenge you to a match.

How do I beat Glen in Eiyuden Chronicle?
Your goal is to get the best “score” in the three territories on the board in this card game. You’ll need to place cards of certain suits and numbers to do so. Each turn starts with you discarding one card, then picking up two more.
But honestly, if you want to win, maybe try shooting for the hands I played that did the trick? I played 6, 7, and 8 in red in the first group, 3, 4, and 5 in yellow in the second, and 4, 6, and 3 in green in the third. Even though it showed me as “losing” on the board proper, because I had two straight flushes and a flush, I won at the end.

Is Glen good in Eiyuden Chronicle?
Glen is just there to open the card shop in the Trading House in your town. He won’t help as a support character. Still, if you like extra minigames, it helps to get the card game in Eiyuden Chronicle. Plus, you get a major population boost from opening his store.
To get the Card Shop, you need Glen, 2880 Headquarters Funds, and that’s it! Enjoy!
