How to Get the Shiny Munchlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon games are getting much more generous as time goes on for shiny Pokemon, and that doesn’t change at all with the Scarlet and Violet DLC. The Teal Mask offers players a free shiny in the form of a Shiny Munchlax, so you don’t have to worry about ridiculous odds to get it.

How to Get a Shiny Munchlax for Free in The Teal Mask

Similar to the Red Gyarados in Generation 2 or the free shiny Ponyta in Pokemon Legends Arceus, there is a free shiny in The Teal Mask. This time around, players are able to get a free shiny Munchlax by progressing through the story until they reach Kitakami Hall.

It is here where the Festival of Masks takes place, and you get a cool minigame (which you can do online with others) known as Ogre Oustin’. This minigame involves collecting different colored berries and transporting them to tables before they are eaten by random Pokemon.

You have to complete this minigame once in the story, but that doesn’t net you the shiny Munchlax. Instead, you have to come back anytime after you do the tutorial story part. You’ll have the option to compete in the Hard Mode after beating the Normal version.

If you participate in Hard Mode and beat all 10 rounds of it at once, you’ll get the shiny Munchlax. Your best method for doing this is to complete it with other players. Have everyone unlock the Hard Mode in their own games and then join together.

If everyone works together to deposit the berries and protect them from harm, you can do this much easier than by yourself. Better yet, everyone in the game will receive the shiny Munchlax at the same time, so long as they all unlocked Hard Mode previously.

This shiny Munchlax not only has a more vibrant blue color, but it is at level one and has the hidden ability Gluttony. You can, of course, evolve it into a nice shiny Snorlax if you wish.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC is available for Nintendo Switch. The Indigo Disk will release in Winter 2023.
